Fantasy Football: 4 Unexpectedly Great Week 8 Performances
Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle was one of a number of players who enjoyed a huge fantasy football performance while on your bench in Week 8. What should your strategy be for these players in Week 9?

Week 8 Fantasy Points: 18.1

Jack Doyle, come on down! Week 8's top fantasy tight end put up over 18 points, helping 42 percent of owners who used him as a strater.

If you read back through previous editions of this column, you'll notice a trend. A lot of tight ends pop up once and then aren't heard from again. That's because it's a position where there's a lot of scoring volatility. Although it's tempting, it can be dangerous to chase last week's points. Remember that time when Marcedes Lewis had a monster game? In the four games since that huge performance, he's totaled three receptions.

Doyle has been trending up, but before hustling out to start him, it's important to consider the matchup he'll be facing.

Honorable Mention

Austin Hooper was the fourth-best tight end in Week 8 but was started in just five percent of leagues. He appeared on this list in Week 1 when he produced 128 yards and a touchdown on just two targets, but had no touchdowns in the five games since. That is, until finding paydirt again in Week 8.
