The Denver Broncos offense exploded out of the gate this season, averaging 33.0 points over the first two games, with Trevor Siemian averaging 3.0 passing touchdowns and 1.0 interceptions per game over that span.
But they cooled off after that, as they were held under 20 points over the five games since then, with Siemian averaging just 0.5 touchdowns compared to 1.6 interceptions. On the season as a whole, they are now averaging 2.1 less points per game than they did last season, as both facets of the offense have been largely inefficient.
Denver's -0.10 Passing NEP per drop back currently ranks 28th in the league, largely due to them averaging the second-most (1.43) interceptions thrown per game. And on the ground, their -0.09 Rushing NEP per play ranks 25th.
Heading into Week 9, they have benched Siemian, whose -0.08 Passing NEP per drop back ranks 29th among all quarterbacks with 25 or more drop backs this season. But the alternative is Brock Osweiler, whose -0.04 Passing NEP per drop back as a member of the Houston Texans last season isn't exactly a ray of hope, especially considering his average of 1.1 interceptions thrown per game.
