5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 8

Jack Doyle's 28.83% Target Share Leads All Tight Ends Over the Past 3 Games

After missing Week 5 due to a concussion, Jack Doyle has gone on to lead all tight ends in targets in two of the past three weeks.

The outlier, if you want to call it that, was Week 7, when his 7 targets were tied for the fifth-most among tight ends. He has also ranked among the top-3 tight ends in receptions during each of those three weeks, highlighted by him catching 12-of-14 targets for a career-high 121 receiving yards and a touchdown in Week 8.

Week Targets Rank Rec Rank
8 14 1st 12 1st
7 7 t-5th 6 t-3rd
6 11 1st 7 t-2nd

Only four players have seen a higher target share over the past three games than Doyle, and they are all wide receivers. The next closest tight end over that span is Evan Engram, whose target share is 4.10% lower than Doyle's. Engram has also caught 14 less passes than Doyle over their last three games.

In Week 9, he will get a plus-matchup against the Houston Texans, who gave up 2 touchdowns to Jimmy Graham last week and have allowed opposing tight ends to be targeted at least 5 times in four of their seven games this season.
