Philip Rivers, QB, Los Angeles Chargers
27 for 33, 434 Yards, 3 Touchdowns
Performance Score: 98
In the past few years, this is about the point in the season where Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers would begin a steady downward trajectory. But perhaps this is a different version of him. Rivers was amazing on Thanksgiving, going 27 for 33 for a season-high 434 yards and 3 touchdowns. He posted a Performance Score of 98, giving the Chargers a glimmer of hope for a potential playoff push.
His Passing NEP of 30.92 was his best outing of the season, as he was consistently able to find Keenan Allen open downfield against a struggling Dallas Cowboys secondary. His ability to get the ball out on time also attributed to the Cowboys' vaunted pass rush notching zero sacks, with Los Angeles eventually winning the contest 28-6.
With matchups on the upcoming schedule against the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, and New York Jets, three of the worst defenses in football to date, perhaps Rivers will buck his trend of regressing in the latter part of the season. Based on his performance last Thursday, he certainly seems poised to finish as one of fantasy football's best quarterbacks.
