Cap Savings: $5,000,000
The New England Patriots -- Bill Belichick in particular -- don’t lose too many trades. It is safe to say that they lost the trade that brought Dwayne Allen on to the team. Barely used in 2017, Allen had only 22 targets for the whole season as he was used primarily as a blocker. From those looks, he produced 10 receptions for 86 yards a single touchdown. His -0.08 Target NEP per Target suggests he didn’t offer a whole lot of upside on his limited looks..
Even though Allen's role as a blocker is infinitely more important in real life than it is in fantasy, he's a costly asset whose release could save New England a cool $5 million.
With all that said, if Rob Gronkowski acts on his leanings towards retirement, the Pats would need Allen's services.
