A year after rushing for 1,287 yards -- the most by a Tennessee Titans running back not named Chris Johnson since 2006 -- DeMarco Murray was longer a part of the team at the end of the 2017 season. It didn't come as a huge shock to everyone, as injuries made the 30-year-old a cut candidate early on.
As noted in that article, Murray was pretty terrible by most metrics, especially ours here at numberFire. Using our Net Expected Points (NEP) metric, which you can learn more about in our glossary, we see that of the 47 running backs with at least 100 carries in 2017, only 7 had a lower Rushing NEP per play mark than Murray's -0.12.
Since leaving the Titans, Murray courted some interest prior to the start of free agency and the draft, but he still remains unsigned. He recently turned down the opportunity to try out for the New Orleans Saints, and the expectation is that he will wait until training camp for the right opportunity.
Amidst the discussion, the oddsmakers at YouWager.eu have released their odds on Murray's potential landing spots. We're going to touch on five of them, starting with the three favorites before diving into two longshots that make for intriguing bets.
Let's get to it.
