Like the Lions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a team that, on paper, seems to be an unlikely landing spot for Murray. They too spent an early-round draft pick on a running back, in former Southern Cal back Ronald Jones, and they have a promising change-of-pace player in Peyton Barber.
However, there have been rumblings this offseason that the Buccaneers would not be averse to adding an experienced veteran to help them on early downs. They were linked, albeit tenuously, with Adrian Peterson back in May.
Murray has a few advantages over Peterson at this stage in their respective careers, namely his prowess as a pass catcher. He has at least 30 receptions in every single season since his rookie campaign. Peterson (and the same goes for Jones) could only dream of such production.
From a personnel point of view, the veteran back landing with the Bucs could make a lot of sense in the short-term. And among the teams with top odds, they are among the more appealing bets.
