Fantasy Football: The Top 10 Rookie Running Backs for 2018
A trio of backs, including Rashaad Penny, went in the first round of this year's NFL Draft. What should you expect from this rookie class for the 2018 fantasy season?

5) Royce Freeman, Denver Broncos

Average Draft Position: 5.05 (RB26)
Projected Fantasy Points: 101.65 (RB35
)

The Denver Broncos let C.J. Anderson walk in free agency, leaving them with Devontae Booker and De'Angelo Henderson as their top backs. That put them in the mix for a running back in the draft, and it made them a pretty enticing fantasy spot for a rookie runner.

Denver selected Royce Freeman in the third round, and the fantasy community is already on board. With Freeman's ADP in the middle of the 5th round (5.05), he's being taken well ahead of Booker, who is lasting until the 11th (11.08).

But we may want to make like New Edition and Cool It. Offseason reports aren't the be all and end all, but it seems like Denver is more than OK with Booker being the lead guy, at least to start the season. However, Broncos coach Vance Joseph did recently say the competition is open and Freeman could "absolutely" win the job.

Sigh.

So, like almost every backfield in the league, with the exception of a rare few, this is going to be one to watch during camp and the preseason.

Our models are projecting a pretty even committee, forecasting Freeman to log 125 rushing attempts and Booker for 129 carries. We give Freeman the edge in receptions (35 to 22) and have Freeman ranked higher (RB35 to RB48), but we envision this being more of a timeshare than the current ADPs would have you believe.
