The Indianapolis Colts' backfield is one of the more intriguing training camp battles to watch from a fantasy perspective. We've got second-year runner Marlon Mack, the incumbent, alongside rookies Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins.
If you search enough on this thing called the internet, you can find reasons to get behind each of the three.
How work is split up during the preseason games will tell us a lot about where these guys stand, but the one with the closest thing to a safe role might be Hines. A do-it-all beast in college, Hines fills a need as a pass-game weapon who can make big plays, which is something the Colts desperately lack outside of T.Y. Hilton.
Even if Hines concedes a lot of the early-down work to some combination of Wilkins and Mack, he could eat as a receiving weapon on passing downs. Of course, missing out on a lot of rushing volume would limit his upside, but it would also give him a respectable floor in what should be a fantasy-friendly attack with Andrew Luck once again being able to do that thing where he throws regulation NFL footballs.
The Colts ranked eighth in points scored in 2016, Luck's last full season (15 games), so this is an offense we want exposure to, and with Indy's receiver depth chart looking fairly bleak, Hines could carve out a nice-sized role right away.
