The Arizona Cardinals have announced that the frontrunner to be their starting quarterback is Sam Bradford, declaring that the job is "his to lose". While this is obviously bad news for fellow quarterbacks Josh Rosen and Mike Glennon, it is fairly encouraging news for the fantasy prospects of Ricky Seals-Jones.
In his last two full seasons, Bradford has almost gone out of his way to target the tight end, whether with the Philadelphia Eagles or the Minnesota Vikings. In 2015, Eagles tight end Zach Ertz saw the second-most targets on the team with 105, while Kyle Rudolph saw a team-high 123 looks in 2016.
Bradford's propensity to get the ball out quickly means he often targets the middle of the field, where tight ends make hay. If Bradford's health can be relied upon -- always something of a risky proposition -- the tight end on the Cardinals should see a healthy workload as long as he logs starter-level snaps. At present, that starter is Seals-Jones.
Seals-Jones saw just 28 targets as a rookie in 2017, and he played on only 26.35% of the Cardinals' offensive snaps. However, he was targeted on a touch more than 21% of his snaps. Another year into his development at the position (he played wide receiver in college) and with little established competition to stunt his development, Seals-Jones is an intriguing late-round option at the tight end spot.
Behind Larry Fitzgerald, roles in the Cards' passing game are up for grabs. With an ADP outside of the top 19 at the position, RSJ is a low-risk option with plenty of upside. --Neil Dutton
