When thinking of elite fantasy quarterbacks, Blake Bortles isn't one of the first names to come to mind. However, he has proven over the past three seasons that the has the ability to be a QB1 for your fantasy squad.
Year | Fantasy Points | QB Rank |
2017 | 249.7 | 13th |
2016 | 270.1 | 9th |
2015 | 316.1 | 4th |
With the Jaguars improving significantly as a team last season -- winning two more games than they had in the previous two seasons combined -- Bortles saw a 16.3% decrease in pass attempts compared to 2016. So his opportunity to accrue fantasy points certainly dwindled, but he still finished as the 13th-best fantasy quarterback.
Yet, this year, he is going, on average, undrafted. And while our models do project him outside the top-12 as the 19th-best quarterback, that's still a number of spots ahead of an undraft-able spot, higher than QB25.
His projected ceiling -- in part thanks to his rushing ability -- would land him as the eighth-best fantasy quarterback. That puts him one spot ahead of where he finished two years ago and would make him a steal for anyone drafting him at his current ADP.
