As a rookie second-round pick from Washington, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Dante Pettis was expected to make his biggest impact in the return game. However, In Week 1, he took advantage of a Marquise Goodwin injury to collect 2 catches for 61 yards and a touchdown. The speedster instantly became Jimmy Garoppolo's preferred downfield threat, hauling in receptions of 39 and 22 yards and just missing on a couple of other long throws.
Overall, Pettis was on the field for 48 snaps (72.7%), as he served as the number-two wideout alongside Pierre Garcon most of the game. With Goodwin still banged up and not practicing, Pettis is poised to play a big role once again on Sunday
Week 1’s performance was against an elite NFL defense in the Minnesota Vikings, while this Sunday the Niners get a much easier task with the Lions coming to town. San Fran owns the fourth-highest implied point total of the week (27.0), and are poised to take advantage of a Lions' secondary that gave up the 10th-most FanDuel points to opposing wideouts in Week 1, despite the Jets dropping back to pass just 21 times.
If Goodwin does indeed sit out, the game matchup shapes up nicely for Pettis, leaving him worth a shot in those 14-plus team leagues.
