Week 1 saw Ricky Seals-Jones and the Arizona Cardinals offense struggle. They managed just 6 points against the Washington Redskins with the tight end catching 3 passes for 19 yards -- not exactly a TE1 stat line. However, if we look beyond the production, we see that Seals-Jones is going to have a chance at significant volume in the Cardinals' offense this year. Last week, he saw six targets, the third-most looks on the team, behind Larry Fitzgerald and David Johnson. One of those looks came in the red zone, looking like an easy touchdown before Seals-Jones dropped it.
The second-year tight end was also on the field for 92.5% (49) of the team's 53 offensive snaps. With Jermaine Gresham remaining limited in practice this week, Seals-Jones is likely to see the field a ton against in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams, a favorable opponent for the tight end.
The Rams gave up the 11th-most fantasy points and seventh-most touchdowns to the position in 2017. In their 2018 season opener, the Rams' struggles appeared again as they failed to contain Oakland Raiders tight end Jared Cook, allowing 180 yards on 9 catches. With Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib focusing on locking down Fitzgerald, Seals-Jones could be the one to pull off a Cook-like performance in Week 2.
