Chris Carson was the surprising recipient of a whopping 32 carries in Week 3, but once he was ruled out with a hip injury, it was unclear how the Seattle Seahawks would divvy up the backfield workload.
Rookie Rashaad Penny would have been the obvious choice, but instead it was Mike Davis rumbling to 101 yards and 2 touchdowns on 21 carries, while also adding 4 catches for 23 yards. It's becoming abundantly clear that Seattle doesn't have any interest in entrusting this backfield to their first round draft pick, and either Carson or Davis (both?) figure to carry the load against the Los Angeles Rams next week.
Trusting any back with notorious flip-flopper Pete Carroll running the show is never any fun, and against the high-flying Rams offense this week, game script could go south in a hurry and render the running game useless anyway. But if you're really hurting at the position, volume is volume, and if Carson remains out, Davis looks like he would be the main guy once again in Week 5. Davis saw 15-plus rushes in three of his six games last year, so this isn't the first time the Seahawks have been willing to give him a high workload.
