A 2016 first-round pick, Josh Doctson has been bordering on bust status this season as he has collected just 16 catches for 159 yards in six games played. Over the last three weeks, though, the Washington Redskins receiver is showing signs of life.
Doctson has seen target totals of 5, 6, and 5 in Weeks 6-8, as he has been on the field for over 82% of snaps in each game. The increased playing time is in part thanks to an injury to Jamison Crowder, who will be out of action once again on Sunday. Facing an undermanned Atlanta Falcons secondary, the Redskins' receivers have a great chance at shining, starting with Doctson.
The Falcons have given up the fourth-most touchdowns to wide receivers (11) while giving up the third-most passing yards (306.7) per game. A pass defense unit that started the season with hope has fallen to 30th in our schedule-adjusted ranks after season-ending injuries to their starting safeties.
Giving up over 30 points per game, the Falcons' defense is ripe for the picking in Week 9 with Doctson standing to profit.
