When picking fantasy defenses this year, look to see who the Buffalo Bills are facing and start there. This week is no different especially with the New York Jets and their fifth-ranked defense, according to our metrics, getting the honor on Sunday.
While not flashy, the Jets have been able to hold opposing offenses in check this season. In six of nine games, they have allowed 24 or fewer points. The Jets have been getting after the quarterback this season as well, racking up 21 sacks and 59 QB hits -- the latter being fourth-most in the NFL. Add in their 15 turnovers forced this season and you see why they are averaging the sixth-most FanDuel points per game (8.1) in 2018.
For their part, the Bills rank last or next-to-last in virtually every meaningful offensive category. They are 32nd in points per game (10.7) and turnovers (22), while ranking 31st in yards per game (248.3), first downs (137), and sacks allowed (33). They own by far the worst trio of quarterbacks in the league. Out of the 54 quarterbacks to attempt a pass in 2018, Josh Allen, Derek Anderson, and Nathan Peterman rank 49th, 53rd, and 54th, respectively, in Passing Net Expected Points. It's no wonder they own the lowest implied point total (14.75) once again this week.
Their defensive numbers alone would leave the Jets as a viable play most weeks, but when you add in the luxury of facing horrific Bills' offense on Sunday, they justify their hefty price tag in Week 10.
