Derrick Henry is coming alive in the fantasy playoffs. Just a few short weeks ago, it was looking like the Tennessee Titans were moving on from the giant 6'3", 245-pound back. I even listed him as a player you could drop after Week 9, when Dion Lewis was asserting himself as the lead back.
But things have changed. Like, really, really changed.
After posting 474 rushing yards through the first 13 weeks of the season, Henry has nearly met that mark in his last two games alone. Since the fantasy playoffs started in Week 14, Henry has run it 50 times for an incredible 408 yards and 6 touchdowns, finishing as the top fantasy running back in each of those weeks (pending Monday night's action).
His incredible Week 14 performance earned him increased playing time this past week. Henry nearly doubled his previous season-high touch total of 18 as the Titans made a point of emphasizing him and their running game in a rainy game against the New York Giants. For good reason, he has also clearly taken the mantle from Lewis as Tennessee's primary back.
The Titans probably won't change up the game plan that has been helping them win their last two games -- though allowing only nine total points in those contest helped, as well. They'll be taking on a struggling Washington team that's currently on their fourth-string quarterback and hadn't played particularly impressive run defense until they met the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15. Henry should have a massive and reliable workload for Week 16.
Todd Gurley had an incredible run during last year's fantasy postseason. This year, it looks like it's Henry's turn to be the king of the fantasy playoffs.
