FanDuel Price: $9,000
DraftKings Price: $8,000
After averaging 24.5 FanDuel points per game this year, Todd Gurley was a plug-and-play option at running back most weeks. Layer in the Los Angeles Rams juicy 28.5 point implied team total this weekend, and Gurley, the weekend's most expensive running back, should be highly owned.
But there are reasons we should consider fading the running back, and it starts with facing a Dallas Cowboys rushing defense that ranked second per numberFire's rankings in 2018. Outside of getting gashed by Saquon Barkley in the final contest of the regular season, Dallas has done a fine job in stopping opposing runners in recent weeks:
Week | Runner | Yards | Rushes | Yards per Rush |
---|---|---|---|---|
Playoff | Chris Carson | 20 | 14 | 1.43 |
16 | Peyton Barber | 43 | 17 | 2.53 |
13 | Alvin Kamara | 36 | 11 | 3.27 |
13 | Mark Ingram | 27 | 7 | 3.86 |
12 | Adrian Peterson | 35 | 12 | 2.92 |
While Gurley is officially practicing and appears recovered from a knee injury, that's a tough price point, considering Dallas has allowed the 11th-fewest FanDuel points to opposing running backs. It may be better to look elsewhere at the running back position this week.
