Staff Fantasy Football Draft Recap: Analysis of Our 14-Team PPR League
Some of the numberFire writers held a fantasy football draft, and the results were rather shocking.

The wait on tight ends ended in the sixth round, as Jason Witten and Jordan Cameron were selected. Our FireFactor ranking mechanism doesn't favor the tight end position at all, because there are so many solid mid-tier options. But this is a PPR, and both Cameron and Witten have 100 reception upside, so combined with a few touchdowns they could exceed their value at this point in the draft.

Brandon Gdula opted for the injured Cecil Shorts here, a pick that will leave him thin at receiver until the Jacksonville wideout returns to the lineup at full health. However, once he's back, he'll provide a good level of volume at the position as the top target on what should be a pass-happy Jacksonville offense. But even then, was the value right in the sixth round? Our projections don't think so.

Ari Ross, on the other hand, went with one of the most underrated PPR receivers in Brian Hartline. I wrote about Hartline for numberFire recently, pointing out that while he may be boring and might have the least upside of any receiver in fantasy football, he's exactly what you want as a high-floor player in a PPR league.

My pick: T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts - I understand the reasons to avoiding T.Y. Hilton early in fantasy drafts this year, but the hate had gone too far at this point in the draft. Being selected after Shorts, Hartline, Brandin Cooks and Rueben Randle, this was a steal for Hilton, who finished just shy of Dez Bryant on a per-target basis last year according to our metrics. He has a ton of competition for looks in the Indianapolis offense, but the potential he provides when on the field is more than worth a late-sixth round pick in a 14-team league with almost every other starting-caliber wideout off the board.
