Staff Fantasy Football Draft Recap: Analysis of Our 14-Team PPR League
Some of the numberFire writers held a fantasy football draft, and the results were rather shocking.

Matt Grasso's pick is not a typo. Nearly 100 picks into this draft, Matthew Stafford was still on the board, and provides a great value at that point in the proceedings. He's over two rounds later than his value on our cheat sheet, and is a good high-volume quarterback with new weapons this year to hopefully boost his value a bit more.

Sean Wirth's pick, on the other hand, represents just how thin the running back position had become by the seventh round. Devonta Freeman is in a battle to be the backup running back in Atlanta, and was a mid-round draft pick in the NFL draft this year. He's as unstable and uncertain of a pick as you can get, but if he gets a chance to play for Atlanta's top-10 offense (according to our data), he should score plenty of points.

That said, I would have rather gone the route of Daniel Lindsey and taken DeAngelo Williams for running back depth in this round. The Panthers' runner figures to be as boring and safe as Brian Hartline, getting a decent amount of volume but not every providing a true breakout week. Still, that level of consistency on the bench in a deep league can be very valuable.

My pick: Sammy Watkins, WR, Buffalo Bills - I don't really like Sammy Watkins as a pro prospect or as a fantasy asset this season, but I had played it safe with my first five picks, and I needed to add some potential to my roster. People who understand the NFL Draft a lot better than I do really like Watkins, so on the off chance that they're right, I have a high-upside backup receiver who could become a starter or a trade chip early in the season.
