Our data doesn't see Cam Newton as an improved quarterback since he entered the league in 2011, but that doesn't detract at all from his fantasy value. The Carolina passer actually had his worst season as a thrower in 2013 according to our numbers, but he remains the best dual-threat quarterback in the NFL for fantasy purposes.
His rushing production will rival that of some running backs currently being drafted in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts, and when combined with his above-average passing ability, Newton becomes a fantasy juggernaut. If the Auburn product can take any sort of step forward in his efficiency as a passer, and he could finish as the best quarterback in fake football this year.
Usually quarterbacks are judged in part by the weapons around them, but for Newton, a lack of weapons only means more chances to run it himself and pick up valuable rushing yards from the quarterback position. Health is a risk with Cam, but if he plays, he's a must-start under center.
