No one expects Jaron Brown to supplant even John Brown this year without an injury, but when you pick up an Arizona Cardinal, you are picking up a slice of the Bruce Arians offense, which is starkly underrated. The Cardinals, if you’ll remember from my article on team situations for backup receivers, are actually the second-best team by volume for a third wide receiver, and the 10th-best by Reception NEP value.
The average Cardinals’ number-three wideout since 2012 has averaged 87 targets, 625 receiving yards, and 3 touchdowns. That average comes out to around 80 fantasy points -- or 5 points per game.
If he had that amount of volume this season, based on his generous per-target efficiency from 2014 Jaron Brown could have north of 90 standard scoring fantasy points in a best-case scenario. That score was good for the WR49 in fantasy football in 2014.
If he only spot-starts, even an average of 5 points is just fine from a waiver wire pickup, a solid investment.
