High-Cost Option: Seattle Seahawks $3,400
When targeting defenses in DFS, there's two things I learned quickly (with the help of 4for4's Chris Raybon): target turnovers and target teams with the potential for special teams touchdowns.
Seattle can provide both this week.
As Jay Cutler nurses an injured hamstring, Lockett's first career punt return, he took it to the house with ease, showcasing vision and speed.
Despite being this week's most expensive play, Seattle will likely be a cash-staple in many lineups due to the high potential for points.
Mid-Cost Option: New York Jets $3,000
The New York Jets enter this matchup sky-high after forcing five turnovers from Andrew Luck last week and allowing only seven points. Next up is a home game against the struggling Philadelphia Eagles, who have allowed the sixth most fantasy points to opposing defenses and tied for the third most giveaways. That should help them continue their turnover streak.
Until Chip Kelly and the Eagles figure things out offensively, they're a great target to stream defenses against.
Low-Cost Option: Cleveland Browns $2,900
There is not much to offer from the bottom of the barrel at the discount bin for defenses, but Cleveland draws a somewhat favorable matchup with the Raiders as a road underdog with Derek Carr under center. The Raiders have only coughed the ball up three times so far this season and have yet to record a sack. After sacking Marcus Mariota seven times last week, Cleveland will look to continue this trend against Carr and look to build off that momentum in front of the Dawg Pound. Travis Benjamin offers upside hope for a special teams score.
GPP Wildcard: Denver Broncos $3,000
Watching the Denver Broncos defense dismantle the Chiefs for five sacks, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and a defensive touchdown last week was a great performance from the entire unit as they earned a ton of respect on a national stage.
The Broncos now face a banged up Matt Stafford at Ford Field as the Lions are tied for the third most giveaways so far this season with five. If Peyton Manning is able to continue the groove he found against the Chiefs and give the Broncos a big lead, then this defensive unit could really cause some trouble. With Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware wreaking havoc as pass rushers and the stout pass defense from Talib and Harris Jr., the Detroit turnovers could pile up again quickly.
