Plugging the Gaps: IDP Waiver Wire for Week 3
Michael Bennett is a princely defensive line option at a pauper's price for Week 3.

William Gay, Cornerback

I hate recommending streaming cornerbacks if you can avoid it, but this week is pretty barren on the safety front in terms of good matchups. Instead, we get run support cornerback William Gay as one of our best matchups for the week. The Pittsburgh Steelers have one of the weakest defensive back groups in the NFL, and opposing offenses know that. That’s why they’ve had no trouble tossing it Gay’s way the 10th-most in the league so far (17 defensive back targets).

He’s capitalized thus far, not playing great defense but by racking up a solid seven tackles, including two for a loss. His 7.0 points per week rank him 33rd among cornerbacks, but he’s facing a St. Louis Rams’ offense this week that should offer him plenty of chances to go after the ball. The Steelers should jump out to an early lead, and if Nick Foles is playing catch up, he could make a mistake.

Gay is available in 91.4% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for around 4.5 tackles, strong potential for an interception, one pass defensed, and a total score of 7.31 balanced fantasy points in Week 3.
