I’m actually a little surprised that the hero of Super Bowl XLIX isn’t more widely owned just based on name recognition. That he’s not is good news for you, because that means Malcolm Butler is almost certainly a streaming option for you this week. Shockingly, Butler has been the 25th-best cornerback in balanced fantasy scoring this season, and all of that with just one interception. He’s been remarkably consistent, too, with only one game below four fantasy points and just one in double-digits. He has a solid tackle base as it appears opposing offenses are still testing the second-year starter.
I’d expect Eli Manning and the New York Giants to do the same in this game, as Butler will almost certainly draw a marquee matchup with superstar Odell Beckham. Beckham has averaged 10 targets per game over the last four weeks, and the team doesn’t appear to be slowing down on pumping his stats. Manning has been remarkable at limiting interceptions, so I wouldn’t expect one here, but with so many chances likely coming Butler’s way, the sky is the limit.
Butler is available in 92.1% of ESPN IDP leagues. We project him for around 5.0 tackles, a good chance for an interception, an excellent chance for a pass defensed, and a total score of 7.27 balanced fantasy points in Week 10.
