Philadelphia's preferred pass catching option at tight end, Zach Ertz, is likely to sit out Thursday's matchup with the Detroit Lions with a concussion. Ertz's absence will open up a window of opportunity for veteran Brent Celek this week in a decent matchup that he has the potential to exploit.
In Ertz's absence last Sunday, Celek saw 10 targets from Mark Sanchez, which he turned into 7 receptions for 79 yards. This after going off for 134 receiving yards in Week 10 against the Dolphins.
While Celek is regarded as a blocking tight end these days, it's important to note that he does have two 800-plus yard receiving seasons under his belt. With an opportunity to face off against a Lions defense that has allowed the eighth most fantasy points to tight ends on the season, Celek has the ability to take advantage and post a solid fantasy day on Thanksgiving.
