Zach Ertz is currently being drafted outside of the top 10 tight ends at the end of the 10th round in standard 12-team leagues. And it doesn't make sense to me -- there are a plethora of late-round tight end options this season, but Ertz stands out.
Having seen an increase in his receptions and yards each year, Ertz enters his fourth year as an important piece to the Eagles' offense. Doug Pederson is the new head coach in Philly, and he utilized tight end Travis Kelce when in Kansas City, as Kelce led the entire Chiefs offense in snaps in 2015. With the departures of DeMarco Murray, Riley Cooper, and Miles Austin, Ertz hopes to gain a few more looks in the red zone.
Among the nine tight ends with 70 or more receptions in 2015, all of them scored more than the two touchdowns that Ertz did. He has a chance for some positive touchdown regression after scoring only twice on 75 receptions.
Ertz struggled through injury early in 2015, too, but when healthy, he performed really well, snatching up 35 receptions for 450 yards in his last 4 games. If Ertz can stay healthy, he should be able to outperform his current draft cost.
