Torrey Smith has seen a pretty steady rise in average draft cost over the past several months. Per FantasyFootballCalculator.com, he was a 13th-round pick in 12-team leagues back in May, and he is now going in the back-end of the ninth round.
Still, though, there's excess value to be had with Smith. He had a career low in yardage, receptions, and targets in his first year with the 49ers in 2015, but his 0.86 Reception NEP per target figure was the second best of his career. Smith’s numbers suffered in large part from a lack of opportunity in a stagnant offense rather than declining efficiency.
Heading into the 2016 season, he is by far the most experienced receiver on the 49ers and has a clear path to 115-plus targets that can be expected of a top wideout in a Chip Kelly offense. Smith was bogged down by an abysmal 49ers offense a year ago, but he has a track record of fantasy relevancy and has plenty of upside at his current draft position.
