Players to target: Taylor Hall, Kyle Palmieri, and Will Butcher
This is going to be an unconventional stack, but one that makes a lot of sense on an abbreviated slate.
The New Jersey Devils have vastly improved this year and it is showing in both their record (3-0-0) and the advanced stats. They have a 52.4 Corsi For percentage as a team, good enough for 10th in the NHL, while also ranking 3rd in expected Goals For per 60 minutes.
In this home matchup against the Washington Capitals, many will avoid the top Devils' line as they will see the Alex Ovechkin line. However, the Ovi line has been a disaster at even-strength, with only a 45.5 Corsi For percentage and 58 Corsi Against per 60 minutes. Hall and Palmieri should be able to fire a ton of pucks on net, and will both play on the power play with rookie Will Butcher, who will be in the quarterback role.
