Thornton and Pavelski play together on the San Jose's top line, both on the power play and at even strength.

The Sharks are up against Edmonton today in what is another fairly lopsided matchup. Edmonton struggles to control the puck, ranking 23rd with a 48.4 Corsi For Percentage, and allow 58.54 Corsi Against per game, the fourth most in the league. Their 80.17 Penalty Kill percentage ranks 21st, and will have its hands full with the Sharks' fourth-ranked power play.

San Jose also has one of the most efficient offenses in the league, scoring on 9.5 percent of their Shots on Goal, and ranking fourth in the league with 2.89 Goals For per game. Edmonton's inability to control the puck will create a ton of scoring chances for San Jose, something that they should easily be able to capitalize on.

Thornton and Pavelski are especially intriguing today because of their efficiency. Pavelski ranks first and Thornton ranks third on the team in Shooting Percentage, while they're first and second on the team in points, and first and third on the team in Corsi For Percentage.

The offense dominates the puck with these guys on the ice, and with the Oilers struggling in that area, the Sharks will have a huge edge when Thornton and Pavelski are playing. When you combine that with their scoring prowess, they have incredible upside tonight.
