FanDuel Price: $3,200
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
There are lots of catchers in good spots tonight, highlighted by Willson Contreras at Coors. As a result, Stephen Vogt should see low ownership.
Why You Should Use Him:
Vogt and the Oakland Athletics are projected for 4.7 runs (seventh-most) tonight against righty James Shields. Shields has given up a combined 15 runs and 6 home runs over his last 4.1 innings, and his his season ERA up to a league-worst 5.78. Since joining the Chicago White Sox, his ERA is an unsightly 7.34.
In three August starts, Shields has compiled a 20.25 ERA and has allowed at least 6 runs in each start. He's been even worse against lefties this season, posting a 5.31 xFIP against southpaws on the season.
Vogt, a lefty, hits right-handed pitching much better. He should be a big part of any potential run explosion against the reeling Shields tonight while hitting out of the three-hole. He's a viable play in all formats.
