Daily Fantasy Baseball: Batted-Ball Positive Regression Candidates for Week 17
Carlos Gonzalez has been underwhelming all year, but recent batted-ball data says he may be about to turn around his season.

Manny Machado, 3B, Baltimore Orioles

Manny Machado has no home runs since the break, but has been hitting the ball very hard, especially against lefties. He has an overall 45.2% hard-hit rate (against both handedness), and in 10 batted-ball events against lefties, he has just one extra-base hit, despite five of these events going for an average exit velocity of over 100 MPH.

Machado could have a big second half if he keeps crushing and lifting the ball.

Machado is a prime home-run candidate tonight against Blake Snell, and he will face Martin Perez later in the week in Texas. He'll see some hittable righties this week, as well. Machado is someone we should look to target while he's hitting the ball this hard, and he is underpriced ($3,500 on FanDuel).
