Lucas Duda has not produced very well in 2018. His work against right-handed pitching has inspired some confidence, though, as he's turning a 39.7% hard-hit rate and 46.6% fly-ball rate into a reasonable .353 wOBA. He also showed plenty of pop against righties in 2017, with a .360 wOBA and .298 ISO in the split.
His matchup today's isn't against just any righty, either, but he's facing the egregious Chris Tillman.
Anyone who was expecting a bounce-back from 2017's career-worst 5.76 ERA from Tillman has been sorely disappointed this year. Over six starts, he has a 9.24 ERA with a heinous 6.03 SIERA, and his 11.1% walk rate has eclipsed his 10.3% strikeout rate.
His small 58-plate-appearance sample against left-handed bats this season has been particularly awful. He's allowing them to post a 54.8% hard-hit rate while only forcing a 4.8% soft-hit rate. That has translated to a 6.67 xFIP.
