After coming up just short of a sweep of the Washington Nationals to open the season, Michael Conforto and the New York Mets will look to stay hot in Miami tonight.

Unfortunately for the lefty-swinging Conforto, he faces southpaw Caleb Smith. A year ago, Smith was tough to hit in this situation, posting a .313 wOBA against lefties and allowing only five extra-base hits.

While Conforto was solid in this split with a .225 isolated power (ISO) in 2018, his strikeout rate ballooned to 30.9%, and his fly-ball rate dipped nearly seven percentage points, down to 31.5%. All things considered, it may be best to stay away from Conforto this evening.
