FanDuel Price: $3,000
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Mark Teixeira has struggled mightily this season, with an average south of the Mendoza Line. He is almost never going to be a popular option, and I don't expect that to change tonight.
Why You Should Use Him:
Teixeira has homered in two of his four games since returning from injury and will look to continue to turn around his season in tonight's matchup against right-hander Nick Martinez.
Martinez has only four appearances this season, but they have not went well -- resulting in a 5.54 ERA. Considering his putrid 5.11 career SIERA, that ERA seems about right. Martinez has been much worse against lefties throughout his career, too, posting a 5.48 xFIP against lefties as opposed to a 4.88 xFIP against righties.
Teixeira, a split-hitter, will hit from the left side of the plate against Martinez. Through his career, he has posted pretty even splits, but last season he hit much better against righties -- especially while playing at home. He posted a .436 wOBA, .385 ISO, and .689 slugging percentage against righties at home. He also elevated his hard-hit rate from 28.4 percent to 38.6 percent against righties last season.
Teixeira certainly isn't a cash game option, but don't ignore him in tournaments. He has considerable power potential in this matchup and will be cheap and low-owned.
