Washington inside linebacker Will Compton has gone from undrafted free agent to IDP fantasy stud in just a few short years, but he vacates his throne atop the tackling pile for Week 16 due to an injury. Enter Martrell Spaight, a versatile linebacker for the team, who took over for Compton last week and earned a whopping 15 total tackles in the matchup.
For the season, Spaight has played just 12 percent of the Washington defensive snaps, but if he qualified for the threshold among inside linebackers (30 snaps per game) his 14 percent tackle rate would be the 14th-best among these players.
Here’s the rub: Spaight gets to play the Chicago Bears, one of the most pass-heavy teams in the league, this week. That doesn’t bode entirely well for him, but his ability to get all over the field should mean he has a high floor of tackle production coming. Plus, the Bears allow a 9.5 percent stuff rate -- the 16th-highest in the league.
Spaight is available in 99.7% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project Compton for 5.79 tackles, 0.00 sacks, 0.34 passes defended, and a total score of 6.73 fantasy points in Week 16.
