Curtis Samuel didn't fill up the box score in Week 9, but he got the start against the Atlanta Falcons, and it appears he could ultimately benefit the most from the Kelvin Benjamin trade.
Against the Falcons, Samuel caught 3-of-5 targets for just 23 yards, while adding 14 yards rushing. While the numbers aren't impressive by themselves, they were season-highs in receptions and yards, and he was one of just three players to have a catch, the other two being Devin Funchess and Christian McCaffrey. Samuel's role should increase moving forward, and it's clear that he's ahead of Russell Shepard -- who didn't record a reception -- in the pecking order.
The Carolina Panthers are expected to be more run-oriented moving forward -- Cam Newton threw for only 137 yards -- and Greg Olsen could return in Week 12, so it's quite possible Samuel still doesn't carve out a fantasy-relevant role. But in deep leagues, the speedy rookie is worth a stash in case he starts seeing more volume. At the very least, he's a guy to monitor the rest of the season.
