With Rashaad Penny sitting in Week 15, Mike Davis took over as the number-two back to Chris Carson for the Seattle Seahawks. While he toted the rock just five times, the running back caught a career-high eight passes as Seattle was trailing most of the way. With Penny yet to practice this week and the high-flying Kansas City Chiefs coming to town on Sunday, Davis is likely to be in a similar role this week.
In the loss to the San Francisco 49ers last week, Davis was on the field for 33 snaps or 44% of the offensive plays. He racked up 8 targets -- the second time this year he has done so -- turning them into 63 receiving yards. Even without scoring a touchdown, Davis finished Week 15 as a top-20 PPR running back with 16.4 fantasy points. This Sunday, the Seahawks are 2.5-point home underdogs to the Chiefs in the highest projected scoring game of the week. The matchup lines up perfectly for the Seahawks' backfield too.
The Chiefs allow the most PPR points to opposing running backs. The 876 receiving yards and 6 receiving touchdowns they have surrendered, the most in the NFL, make Davis worth a play in those running back needy lineups.
