Daily Fantasy Golf Helper: Bermuda Championship

By now, you've probably dabbled in daily fantasy sports, but if not, don't worry. Now is a great time to start, especially with FanDuel's daily fantasy golf offering.

Golf can be one of the most exciting DFS sports to follow, as tournaments span four days and allow ample time to prepare each week. It's a great balance between time to research and time spent tracking your team.

But whether you're brand new to the PGA or daily fantasy sports in general, we have you covered -- and we have daily fantasy golf projections and lineup building tools, too.

Let's take a look at some golfers to target this week.

Key Stats

Key Stats for the Bermuda Championship

Strokes Gained: Approach
Strokes Gained: Off the Tee
Driving Accuracy
Strokes Gained: Putting
Birdie or Better Rate

There's not much to go off of at this course from past PGA Tour events, as we've seen it just once (last year), and there's no ShotLink data, which means no strokes gained data. However, we do have some traditional stats to go off of, and it really looked like greens in regulation -- the O.G. version of strokes gained: approach -- correlated well with success. Accuracy and good drives (fairways hit plus fairways missed but that still lead to a green in regulation) also popped, suggesting that ball-striking is the key to the low scores here.

For a more detailed breakdown on the course, check out our course primer from Mike Rodden.

Stats cited below come from FantasyNational and include the past 50 rounds on the PGA Tour, and putting surface splits include the past 100 rounds when possible, unless noted. Ranks are among the field.

High-Salaried Plays

Brendon Todd (FanDuel Salary: $11,900 | FanDuel Sportsbook Win Odds: +1200) - Todd won here a year ago, and that'll likely lead to a popularity boost. He also is the only golfer in this field who played at last week's ZOZO. Todd ranks second in fairways gained, 13th in good drive rate, and fifth in Bermuda putting despite sitting 56th in strokes gained: approach. His spot in the top tier of this field is pretty firm.

Doc Redman ($10,900 | +2700) - Redman rates out first in my stats-only model for the week because he's 13th in fairways gained, 3rd in good drive rate, 20th in strokes gained: off the tee, and 3rd in strokes gained: approach. He's 67th in Bermuda putting, which keeps him viable if the tee-to-green game shows up like it should.

Others to Consider:
Harold Varner ($11,500 | +2200) - The favorite in my win simulation model and the field leader in strokes gained: tee to green.
Henrik Norlander ($10,600 | +4000) - Is 9th in fairways gained and 31st in Bermuda putting while also 10th tee to green.

Mid-Salaried Plays

Adam Schenk ($10,100 | +4200) - Schenk is really good off the tee (5th) by way of being balanced (38th in distance gained and 30th in fairways gained). The other data is a little less desirable, yet he sits a passable 60th in approach and 21st in Bermuda putting. He hasn't missed a cut (nine total events) since June.

Sepp Straka ($9,500 | +5000) - Straka can flash some world-class iron play at times, and that keeps him in play in a weak field such as this. He's 35th over the past 50 rounds in strokes gained: approach and is 14th in birdie or better rate. Looking through his event log shows inconsistent iron play overall, but there isn't exactly any safety in this field except maybe at the top. We may as well embrace the volatility.

Others to Consider:
Chesson Hadley ($9,200 | +5500) - Always gets a bump on accuracy tracks; is 6th in birdie or better rate gained and 27th in Bermuda putting.
Scott Stallings ($9,400 | +5000) - Irons have been there despite three of four missed cuts. The made cut was a 6th. Risk/reward play.

Low-Salaried Plays

Max Homa ($8,600 | +7000) - Homa is 18th in strokes gained: tee to green (10th off the tee, 27th in approach, and 102nd around the greens). If you're relying on Homa's chipping, he won't be in contention here anyway. He's not hyper accurate (72nd) or elite on Bermuda (62nd), but those are viable enough at this salary based on his ball-striking.

Kyle Stanley ($8,800 | +7000) - Stanley is certainly not a safe play because of his putter (100th in strokes gained: putting overall over the past 50 rounds and actually also 100th in Bermuda putting over the past 100 rounds). However, he's third in fairways gained and first in good drive rate plus 20th overall in strokes gained: tee to green and 25th in approach. He can get into scoring position. If the putter is even lukewarm, he can finish well.

Others to Consider:
Ben Martin ($8,400 | +10000) - Is 17th in opportunities gained but 88th in birdie or better rate because he's not a great putter. There's upside in that if he can putt.
Ollie Schniederjans ($7,000 | +10000) - Top-20 in 8 of 16 Korn Ferry Tour starts in 2020 and is much better in datagolf's rankings (162nd) than in the Official World Golf Rankings (412th).
