4 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 8/31/16
Adam Duvall, OF, Cincinnati Reds
FanDuel Price: $3,300
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
The Cincinnati Reds struggle against right-handed pitching as they rank 21st in wOBA at .312. With a reduced evening slate on the day, Adam Duvall is still just the 20th-most expensive outfielder. With only 6 second half home runs -- versus 23 in the first half -- Duvall may not see much ownership tonight.
Why You Should Use Him:
Ricky Nolasco takes the bump against the Reds in the midst of one of the worst years of his career. His 4.49 SIERA is the second-worst mark he's recorded over 11 major league seasons.
Nolasco really struggles against same-sided bats. Righties have recorded a .534 slugging percentage and .364 wOBA against him. In the second half of 2016, Nolasco has been even worse, allowing 2.03 home runs per nine innings, and his hard hit rate has risen by 5.7%.
While many may look at Joey Votto and Billy Hamilton for the platoon advantage, Duvall is a nice play at a cheaper price point. He owns a 37.8% hard-hit rate and 45.6% fly-ball rate versus righties.
