4 FanDuel MLB Value Plays for 9/2/16
Jay Bruce, OF, New York Mets
FanDuel Price: $3,000
Jay Bruce has had a strong year from the dish and is slashing .248/.305/.505 through 505 plate appearances. His numbers have been especially good against right-handed pitching with a .353 wOBA and very strong .274 ISO on a 39.3% hard-hit rate. His production has fallen off since joining the New York Mets, but he still had a 34.9% hard-hit rate in August, and he should be able to bounce back in a good matchup with A.J. Cole today.
Cole hasn't looked good through two Major League starts this season with a 4.97 ERA and 4.89 SIERA. If you're looking for a bigger sample size before you decide he's a pitcher you want to attack (as you should be), look no further than his minor league work this season. Through 22 Triple-A starts this year, he had a 4.26 ERA.
Between his Major League and minor league action this year, he has a brutal .850 OPS against left-handed hitting, and Bruce is a steal with his low price-tag tonight.
