Fantasy Baseball: 5 Low-Cost Hitters Who Are Plate-Appearance Assets in Rotisserie Formats

In one sense, it’s understandable why Melky Cabrera’s draft stock has cratered -- the late rounds are when fantasy owners fish for speculative upside, so it’s no wonder that high-variance outfielders like Yasiel Puig, Eric Thames, and Carlos Gomez are being snapped up way ahead of the veteran Chicago White Sox outfielder.

That said, it does seem odd that Melky’s consistently excellent batting average and useful runs and RBI production may go undrafted in some standard leagues.

Sure, Melky is no longer a strong threat for even 20 combined homers and steals, but then again it’s near impossible to find 600-plus plate appearances of .290 average available anywhere near the back half of the draft -- let alone with your last few picks.

Add on a strong shot at 150 combined runs and RBI's, and Melky’s aggregate ADP as the 229th player off the board seems like a choice buying opportunity.
