The most expensive pitcher on Wednesday's main slate, Chris Sale is worth the hefty price tag.

Even in what was a down year in 2016, he posted a solid 25.7% strikeout rate after posting rates north of 30% in 2014 and 2015. Our models project him for the second-most strikeouts of the day as he takes on a Pittsburgh Pirates team that struck out at an above-average rate last year, finishing with the league's seventh-highest strikeout rate against left-handed pitching.

Sale also offers some reasonable safety today, as the Boston Red Sox sit as the third-biggest favorites on the slate (-180 moneyline) and the Pirates' implied total (3.45) is third lowest.
