Charlie Morton, Houston Astros

ESPN ownership: 10.5 percent

Yahoo! ownership: 14 percent

A rainout for Sunday's game against the Oakland Athletics sets veteran Astros righty Charlie Morton up for a two-start week, so we can essentially echo the appeal of Morton's teammate Joe Musgrove here.

Morton's low 80s curveball should highlight him as a particularly strong plug-and-play for the weekend tilt against the Rays, who have performed well below average against the curve since the start of last season. The 33-year-old righty limited hitters to a .506 OPS with that hook during his last full season of action in 2015, and of late Morton has been generating even more whiffs with the pitch than he did in 2015, upping his curveball swinging-strike rate from a 17.2 percent two season ago to a 21.4 percent mark in the current year.

Granted, the Angels have done some damage with the curve over the last season-plus, boasting the fourth-highest team OPS against curveballs over that span. Even so, Morton's ability to generate above-average swing rates on pitches outside of the zone should help him stifle a smoke-and-mirrors Angels squad whose above-average swing rates and below-average contact rates should meet with some negative regression sooner rather than later.
