Kyle Freeland, Colorado Rockies

Colorado Rockies rookie southpaw Kyle Freeland has a nice opportunity to inch his bloated 5.91 ERA a little closer to his tidy 3.86 xFIP this week with a couple of favorable away starts against the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants.

That Dodgers tilt in particular should be a prime plug-and-play target for deep-league streamers, as L.A. has been astoundingly futile against lefties over the past year plus, with its .621 team OPS versus left-handers since the start of last season ranking as the worst such mark across the majors by some margin.

The Giants aren't a heck of a lot better, with their .707 team OPS against southpaws a bottom-seven mark league-wide across that span.

Granted, Freeland's thus far minuscule 4.7 percent swinging-strike rate and alarmingly high 95.4-percent contact rate on pitches in the zone could spell some trouble against the Giants. They are a team that doesn't swing and miss a ton as it is, and they have managed a bottom-three league-wide strikeout rate against lefties since the start of last season.

Still, the contact that the Giants have made over that span hasn't exactly been ferocious, with the team mustering bottom-three marks in terms of both soft- and hard-contact rates over that sample.

Freeland doesn't have the swing-and-miss upside to put him in the purview of standard-league streamers, but those scraping the wire for answers in deep leagues could do a heck of a lot worse.
