Re-Drafting the 2011 MLB Draft Using Advanced Analytics
3 Risers
As for these three players, they leapfrog quite a few on their way to the top end of the re-draft.
Player | Position | WAR | Actual Pick | Re-Draft Pick | Difference |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Michael Fulmer | RHP | 3.3 | 44 | 11 | 33 |
Trevor Story | SS | 2.7 | 45 | 12 | 33 |
Jackie Bradley, Jr. | OF | 8.0 | 40 | 8 | 32 |
The first of three players selected between picks 40 and 45, righty Michael Fulmer has gone 13-8 in 30 career starts with the Detroit Tigers. He also won Rookie of the Year honors in 2016 after posting an 11-7 record with a 3.06 ERA in 159 total innings.
Like Fulmer, it also took a while for the hard-hitting Trevor Story to reach the bigs. Since doing so, though, the shortstop has turned in 31 dingers and 82 RBI in 116 career games.
For the aforementioned Bradley, Jr. -- who has seen his value go from a compensatory pick to a top-10 player -- he has been quite the asset for the Boston Red Sox. He played his way to the All-Star Game in 2016 while hitting a career-best 26 home runs.
