We have a short five-game main slate on Thursday, and with no pitching options above $8,500, we go straight to the hitters.

There's not much to dislike about Mike Trout tonight as he takes on southpaw Ariel Miranda and the Seattle Mariners. Miranda's 3.93 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) through five starts this season is an improvement on the 4.77 he posted as a rookie in 2016, but the sample size is obviously pretty small. His career 35.4% hard-hit rate, 53.1% fly-ball rate and 4.83 xFIP against right-handed hitters leaves plenty of room for optimism for Los Angeles Angels righties.

Even by the ridiculous standards he has set with wOBA's above .400 in each of the last five seasons (and at least .415 in each of the last two), Trout has been tremendous to start 2017 -- posting a .477 wOBA through 126 plate appearances.

Our models project Trout as the top hitter on today's main slate.
