I'm not a major league manager, but when your leadoff man's batting line is .179/.206/.232 with zero homers and zero stolen bases, isn't it time for a change?

And yet Alcides Escobar continues to lead off for the Kansas City Royals. Sure, he actually got two hits yesterday, and attempted his first steal of the year (he was caught), but with painfully little upside, he can't be justified even on a slate with both Sale and Coors Field.

Among qualified bats, he's the only player with a wOBA below .240 on the year (.193).

One of these days the Royals will presumably stop this madness. Unless then, resist the temptation to use him as a cost-saving measure.
