Matt Carpenter, 1B, St. Louis Cardinals

While Matt Carpenter's production has been down in 2017, he is still making some pretty excellent contact, posting a 40.7% hard-hit rate, 14.1% soft-hit rate and 49.6% fly-ball rate.

Despite those superb batted-ball numbers, his batting average on balls in play (BABIP) sits at a lowly .230. For context, his career average BABIP is .323, and his lowest mark in a full season is .307 -- so we can almost certainly count on his production trending upward if he keeps making contact the way he has been.

He draws a very strong matchup tonight against Cincinnati Reds right-hander Bronson Arroyo, who, unsurprisingly, at 40 years old and having last played in the majors in 2014, has been awful in 2017. Arroyo owns a brutal 5.31 SIERA, and he has also been tagged for a 35.2% hard-hit rate and 48.7% fly-ball rate (both career highs) while allowing a .393 wOBA to left-handed hitters.
