4 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 6/14/17
Jonathan Lucroy, C, Texas Rangers
FanDuel Price: $2,600
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
There's possibly no catcher hotter right now than Gary Sanchez of the New York Yankees, who's socked four homers in his last five games. Given that tear, he's likely to be high-owned.
With only a .305 wOBA to his name so far this season, Jonathan Lucroy is likely to float under the radar tonight.
Why You Should Use Him:
This season hasn't been kind tor Lucroy, what with his dreadful .233 wOBA in the first month of 2017, followed by somewhat better months of .342 and .314 wOBAs.
Tonight, he will face Houston Astros rookie hurler Francis Martes, who hasn't been strong at either the Triple-A or the Major League level.
With only 3 2/3 innings pitched in The Show, Martes' minor league numbers are a better barometer: Over 32 1/3 innings, he recorded a 5.94 FIP, whiffing 23.3% of hitters...but that was mitigated by the fact that he walked 17.2% of batters.
For all of his warts, Lucroy has made hay against right-handed pitching, sporting a 24.2% hard-hit rate and 31.5% fly-ball rate. All of these factors could lead to Lucroy being a nice little play.
